Mould Problems

Mould Problems

Dave from Integrity Surveying Ltd talks to us today about mould, and how it can be prevented.

Mould can grow anywhere: on carpet, clothing, food, paper, and even in places you can’t see, such as the backside of drywall, areas inside walls around leaking or condensing pipes, and above ceiling tiles.

Black mold is a fungus (some but not all species are dangerous) that grows indoors in moist conditions on cellulose (paper) based materials. It can cause severe respiratory symptoms and should be cleaned before it spreads too far.

Not only is a mould problem difficult and costly to fix, but mould can also produce allergens and irritants (and, rarely, toxins) that may compromise your health.

You can’t mold-proof your home, but you can make it mold-resistant.
If you have problems with black mould on windows or mould on walls you have to stop condensation first.

If you need a building surveyor, choose one with integrity.
